DIY Botanical Pot Holders
Dollar store items can be such a great deal, but they're not always high up on style. Taking a pair of basic potholders, in about 5 minutes, you can spruce them up into something fresh and new - and totally you!
You will need:
A pack of potholders (2 pack for $1 at Dollar Tree)
Your prints {pear graphics found HERE and HERE}
Sewing Machine
Iron
Since the potholders aren't huge, you can fit two prints onto one print when printing them on fabric. Need to learn how? You can go here to learn how to print on fabric. Trim them up so they will fit onto the potholder, giving about a 1/2 inch for seam allowance.
Iron down the edge, so your edges will be finished when sewing them. Iron it all the way around, then pin it onto the potholder.
Just sew it down, running a stitch around the edge of the print to hold it down in place. If you want to get fancy, you could do a pretty stitch, but I just did a straight line.
Clip the strings and you're done! It really is a super simple project that takes cheap potholders to a whole new level!
See ya soon for another project - in the mean time I'd love to see you on my blog at The Shabby Creek Cottage.

Lovely! This is such a great idea. You could also sew the printed graphic on the opposite direction and make sort of a pocket...to slip your hand into. It would be a kind of oven mitt.
