Changing out my Kitchen Cabinets Hardware

kitchen cabinets hardware

Bit by bit we're still plugging away at getting our house ready to sell. Last week I decided we should change out the hardware on our kitchen cabinets. When we moved in 9 years ago, the house was brand new, I picked out white cabinets, but I didn't get to select the hardware. They came with some rather odd looking ping pong ball shaped knobs.

I removed them on the first day and promptly through them away, they were horrible!! (Sorry no photo for those!) At the time I was into the whole "Shabby" look, and I replaced the ping pong balls with glass knobs. For awhile I've been wanting to replace those with some nickle finish knobs that would add a little more punch and not be so taste specific. I found these Satin Nickle Knobs at Target. The price was good and they matched my hardware and my light fixtures!

These are my old glass knobs. I'll probably use them on some furniture projects in the future.

And here's my husband, aka Mr. Fairy, helping me change the knobs.  He's not big on being in the spotlight, I had to sneak this photo. Our friends,Vince & Dixie, keep teasing him that my Dog makes more appearances on my blog, than he does. Now they can just tease him about being called "Mr Fairy". Haha!

And here are the new knobs! Simple and elegant and pretty versatile too.  I think they can go with Contemporary Decor to Country and everything in between.

  1. Looking good Karen. I still need to paint my cabinets before I can change the hardware. But you have it right... plugging away at it!

  3. Mr. Fairy, Lol! Poor guy!! Maybe we should call him Mr. Graphics; not quite as catchy but maybe that would keep him from being so camera shy. He is definately helpful so that is a wonderful trait.Your new knobs look great. I know you will find some fun projects in the future that will need a bit of shabby bling :)
