Using Wood Trim to add Interest to a Bed

One of the things that my husband and I like to do together on the weekends, is to go to open houses. We visit old houses, new houses and model homes. It's fun to look... and we get so many great ideas for decorating our own home! All of these photos are ones that I took, from model homes in our area. I'm always impressed by what a difference a little wood trim can make, and the model home decorators are particularly good at finding new and inventive ways to use trims and moldings to create a custom look. I've put together a collection of photos

showing beds that have been trimmed out with wood.

This bed was trimmed out with molding along the sides, with some decorative wood trim pieces along the top. Inside of the wood is a fabric panel that's been adhered to the wall. You could also do wallpaper.I think this is such a great look!

This is another bed done in a similar way as the first one, only the inside section is just painted the same as the rest of the room. It's a more subtle look, but also very nice!

I had to throw this one in, because it's my Dream Home!! We've visited it many many times, it really is amazing. I may show you the whole house at some point... if you guys are interested. It's sells for over a Million dollars... but hey a girl can dream right! There is a fabulous view of the river over that balcony!

Anyway, I thought it was very clever how they created the Window to fit perfectly with the headboard. Not to mention the fact that the window itself is gorgeous, love that arch!

Here's one with just some very simple flat wood boards on either side, crown molding on the top, and the space in the center is painted the same color as the trim. Nice for a guest room, or if you are like us... a grown son's room.

I thought this was a fun idea for a kids room!

This was all done with flat boards and each section was painted a fun bright color. You could even do chalkboard paint in between, although that might get a little messy so close to the bedding.

I hope you enjoyed these ideas, maybe they will inspire you to do something similar in your own home!

  9. Beautiful! This would be a great idea for behind our bed because of the strange shape of the wall and ceiling. Thanks for sharing!
