These are the sad little brass knobs that came with every interior door in our house. I thought about painting them, but they just have no style what so ever. After looking at these for several years, I finally decided that enough was enough! And off to Lowe's we went!
There are so many wonderful styles and finishes to choose from, it was hard to pick! We ended up choosing these lovely looking Satin Nickel knob/handles to replace the brass knobs with. I love the curly cue handles on these!
So much more stylish, don't you think?! We had to change out the hinges too of course. We've gotten most of the first floor done, but we have the whole upstairs left to do. We're taking our time with this project, as our budget allows, since we have a lot of doors in this house. I love mini DIY projects like this, that really make an impact on our home, with out a lot of effort! I would love to know what sort of hardware you guys have in your homes, and if you kept it, changed it, or would like to change it.

Thank you Fabio!
DeleteLovely Karen!
ReplyDeleteThanks Diane!
DeleteLove the new handles! The old ones? Not so much. lol
ReplyDeleteHa! I agree Maureen!
DeleteVery nice. What an impact.
ReplyDeleteThank you Karren!
DeleteLove them! We changed our outside door hardware pretty quickly after we moved in (4+ yrs ago), because I'm paranoid and didn't like the feeling that strangers might have keys to our house. So, those doors have satin nickel and all the interior doors are worn brass- yuck! Keep thinking we'll change them, but it hasn't been a huge priority yet.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sheila! We've been here 9 years, so it took us awhile too!
Deletethey look very nice. we have curly cue handle knobs but they are in brass which I'm not really a fan of. I may ned to spray paint them!!
ReplyDeleteYes, if you have decent knobs you can spray paint them. I've seen it done in oil rubbed bronze and it looks great!
DeleteI put that same door knob on our bathroom! It goes with the rest of the fixtures in there, but now I have to replace the others in the house 'cause they don't match.
ReplyDeleteGreat choice! They are so lovely.
Debbie :)
Thanks Debbie! That's what happens, you change one thing in one room and it affects all the others!
DeleteI love them!! Really changes the look to a more classy look! I live with the ugly gold knobs from the 70's. Maybe I can get hubby to change them out one day!
ReplyDeleteThanks Lou Ann! I should have given my husband credit in the post, I picked them out, and he changed them... that's what I meant by "we"!!
DeleteSame ones we changed to a few years ago. Brad corrects me and calls them levers...lol. I do think they're so much nicer than regular knobs. You made a lovely choice!
ReplyDeleteThank you Chris! Yes, levers, that sounds right!
DeleteVery pretty! I am fortunate to live in an older "cottage" built in the 40's which has glass knobs on very door; how I love them!
ReplyDeleteThank you Betty! My grandparents had the old glass knobs in their home, and I always loved them, they are like jewelry for your doors! You are lucky to have them!!
DeleteWhen we built our house 20 yrs ago (YIKES!), we put in handles like your new ones. We discovered quickly that our toddler AND the dog could open them! All the bedrooms have round knobs, but need some updating (like the rest of the house at this stage!) I still love the look of the handles better.
ReplyDeleteThanks Beth! Yes, someone else mentioned that fact over on Hometalk. Thankfully we don't have any little ones anymore, and so far the dog has left them alone (maybe because he's short!), so I think we are good. :)
DeleteI looked at that sad little knobs, and recalled how I changed those SAME knobs for the pretty handle types(yes, the same ones) about 2 years ago. I don't regret them a bit, plus I changed the switch plate and outlet covers to match!
ReplyDeleteNow I don't feel so badly anymore, as we've lived here for almost 6 years and still haven't changed over the brass knobs and hinges that came with the new house. I love seeing what a difference it makes, so I look forward to the day we tackle this item on our way-too-long list! :)
ReplyDeleteLove the new handles Karen! We replaced all of our interior doors (flat) with 6 panel doors, replaced the hinges and knobs. From brass (like yours) to the same exact brushed nickel ones you have. That's a lot of doors, hinges and knobs!
ReplyDeleteBut it is amazing the change it makes.
Nancy
Okay, now I'd like to pick everybody's brains......with those lovely curled handles, do you catch your bathroom, the strap on your purse, or your sleeves on them? I was visiting a friend who has them and kept catching my clothes on the handles.
ReplyDeleteIs it just me, or what?
Oops, i meant bathrobe, not bathroom. I must be more tired than i knew!
ReplyDeleteI did the same thing, I happened upon a great deal one day and said weelllll, I need these. I really did, nearly every door knob in the house was different from the others and or scratched to where the sheen was gone. I got the same ones you did, and have loved the change for years now.
