New Curtains for the Dining Room

I've had these silk blend curtains in my Dining Room for awhile, and ever since I redid my Living Room, I've been wanting to change them out!

I used to have similar curtains in here, but when I redecorated I went with these White Linen ones. After I made the change the Dining Room curtains didn't feel right anymore. Does that ever happen to you? You change one room and then the room next to it suddenly needs a little update too? The old domino effect!

Anyway, that meant another trip off to Ikea! Fun for me, not so much for my husband... Oh well, he lived! haha. I grabbed a couple of pairs of these Lenda Curtains. You just can't beat Ikea for curtain prices. Even when I had my shop, I couldn't buy curtains at wholesale prices, that were cheaper then Ikea's retail prices!

Okay, admittedly when I got up on the ladder, I noticed that my lack of cleaning skills were pretty evident here. Just keeping it real! After a bit of dusting though, and after ironing the new curtain panels, I was good to go.

Here they are! Nice and light and Lineny (is that a word?). In addition to the texture and sheen, matching the curtains in the other room better, there is also a lot more light coming in to this room now. The other drapes were lined, and these aren't, and it made quite a difference. They're a bit long, but I do like a little puddle on my draperies so I may leave them like that. Now that the Holidays are over, are you guys working on any projects around the house?

    1. Thanks Maureen! I know that feeling! I'm glad these rooms in the front of the house are pretty much done, so when people come to the door everything looks nice. The upstairs is still a work in progress though!

  2. The new curtains make the chair pop! Looks good. I have started out the new year on a roll of projects. I first decorated some tiny metal frames with bling, and did a long, thin sampler for the living room, copied out of a catalog idea. Then I had to add some gold leafing to the frame and that got me going on gold paint, so I am off to do more with gold paint any where I can! I bought some plain wooden frames at the thrift store this morning to start with. I may add some bling to them too.
Your posts always give me a smile.

  3. Love your new curtains, Karen! I am going to have to remember Ikea since my daughter is looking to add some panels to her open living room, dining room and the kitchen sliding door. She doesn't have a lot to spend, so Ikea sounds like the place to go! I've been wanting to go anyway, so this will make the drive there worthwhile.

    1. Thanks Kathy! It's a haul for us to get there too, but it really is worth it! We always leave with a carload full of stuff, and the quality is good too!

  4. I love how they puddle on the ground. I am getting the bug to stencil some curtains for my craft room. I haven't decided on getting some panels at IKEA (it's so far from me) or using a paint drop cloth. Shanty 2 Chic girls suggested to get the drop cloth from Lowe's. No seams in the middle.

    1. I'm getting that same bug Jodie! I've been seeing all the stenciled curtains in blogland and it looks like so much fun. You may see these curtains again in a stencil project in the future. If you can sew, I think drop cloth would be gorgeous, it's such a nice weight and it should take the paint really well!

  5. Looks so light and airy, and looks great with the furniture! I just bought drapes and valances for the bedroom and they look so heavy and kind of dark, okay for winter months, I guess. But after what I paid for them, I'm not telling Mr. P. I really don't like them. Anyway I purchased 3 drop cloths and plan on sewing some new ones, and the way things have been going lately, it will probably be Spring before they're done, so I can tell Mr. P. I just need a change with the season. hehehe Stenciling is a great idea, I've got a lot of stencils *-*-* that's the sound of wheels turning! You're always getting me into something!!

  8. Karen, thanks for the harlequin graphic. Your new curtains look terrific! If you think the tops of yours had cobwebs, I'm sure mine look as bad and probably a lot worse. Maybe I should get up there and look---later.

  10. Love the new curtains! I know what you're saying about changing an element in one room, and finding you have to start going from room to rooM! I just got caught up in that one! Wish I could do the beautiful puddling on my floor - I have several little rescue doxies & chihuahuas who came to me with very bad manners. They always come first, so to make sure I don't have any of "their" puddling, I raise the curtains up! I see them looking at them even now...............

    1. Oh, wait till you get there and see! They have some that are more gauzy (pretty sure it is a word!) than these, that are just gorgeous! And I think the price is around $10 - $15 for 2 panels!! They also have beautiful lace netting ones, that are $5 for 2 panels!

  15. Your curtains are great, look so flowey and light. Yeah I figured pc would object to that one. Oh well we have to talk so we can be more clear in our own language right?
It's like once you paint the walls then the trim then the ceiling, lol. In our place the living room flows into the kitchen, then into the mudroom so we'd better have the right colors; one wall runs thru all three rooms. AaaRRRGggghhh

OH to have an IKEA. I've never been in one but daughter told me about all the good stuff they have. There were several in San Diego area after we moved away. Grand Junction is very lax in getting good stores. We just got a TJMaxx not long ago. I am very grateful to have Michaels, Jo-anns and Hobby Lobby but would love some of the "good" stores also. IKEA had a metal table I wanted but they don't ship it. Total bummer. I'm gonna buy a couple drop cloths to make mstr. bedrm curtains and stencil or something.
