My House - The Guest Room

I thought I would share a few photos of my Guest Room with you guys today. I redid this room a couple of years ago and I'm thinking about redoing it again. Lol! When it received it's last makeover, it's main function was as a sleepover room for my teenage step daughter. I wanted it to be bright and girly and fun, which I think it is! Now that she's older ... and now that I'm a little older, it's become more of a room for me. I'll be turning 50 this year, and without going into TMI, let's just say sleep is a bit more challenging at this stage in my life, and this guest room has been my refuge on those sleepless nights!  Anyway, I thought I would give you the tour as it is now and when I redo it, I'll give you another tour!

I bought the beautiful Antique Iron Bed for a great price about 8 years ago and I love it's romantic curvy lines! The little French bedside table is also, antique. It's an interesting shape in that it only has 2 legs and then props against the wall. I bought the bedding at Ikea, as well a the paper lantern. The framed Crazy Quilt sampler was made by my Great Grandmother.

I had fun going to yard sales and collecting these pretty vintage milk glass pieces. I think they look so cheerful with the bright red Zinnias in them! I hope you liked this little tour of my guess room. I'll take more photos after I redecorate it, to share with you!

  2. You are one of many, Karen. Many ladies who have decided that sleep needs change over the years and when desperation sets in the guest suite becomes a 2nd Master (I just couldn't use the term Mistress' room lol). I also chose an IKEA duvet set but it's the small roses. Would love to see it when you've finished.

    1. Thanks Chris! I have heard that dual Master Bedrooms is the new trend for newly built homes, so I guess you're right, we're not alone!

  5. Totally agree on the bed situation. I moved into my son's room the day after he left for college. I get so much more sleep now. Can't believe you're about to turn 50. You're a young looking 50!!!!!!

  6. I do love a good makeover. The room has a gorgeous color on the walls. Will you be picking a totally new pallet?
If you can't sleep there you might as well enjoy the view.
Reading nook? super comfy chair? Icecream dispenser?...sorry thats my over 50 sleepless shadow talking...
    Keep smiling and creating.

    1. Yes, totally new pallet. I'm thinking a light French Gray. Love the sound of the Ice Cream dispenser, putting that on my list! haha!

  8. I love my husband, but he can snore the house down sometimes so thank God we have a guest room where I can go and get some sleep. When I turned 50 I had other sleep issues and the spare room helped out immensely with that, too. Good news is before too long sleeping should be easy again.

  9. Can't wait to see what you do. French Gray along with some soft muted coral/red shades would be pretty, maybe a little forest green touch and some taupe to balance it all out.. Oh wait a minute it is your room not mine, sorry about that LOL

    1. I do that too Jacqueline! I often mentally redecorate waiting rooms in Doctor's offices, it helps to pass the time!

  10. It is so pretty, and I love French Grey...it will be so soft & feminine.
I too use our spare room often, my husband is a snorer and restless sleeper. It's nice to have a place to relax and finally get some sleep.
