I’m kind of obsessed with all things words. They tend to make their way onto every piece of art I make, especially if it’s for my own home. I also like easy pieces, like my latest addition to my studio – a little fun photo art.

I used a
deep edge canvas, paint, stamps,
ink, a little coffee stained paper scrap,
Mod Podge & a graphic printed onto tissue paper that was wrapped around cardstock and taped on the back. {I really like using that technique!}

I started off by painting the canvas with a paint sample, those little buggers are handy for small projects! I just used a regular old paint brush, not a fancy one :) Notice the push pins that holds it up off the table to let it dry? I learned that trick from my buddy
Michele.

After the canvas was dry, I gave it a light coat of Mod Podge to put the graphic on.

I just put it on top, while it was still on the cardstock, then used an Exacto knife to cut around the print.

I flipped it over, the gently smoothed out the tissue paper. Next I wet my finger and ran it along the edge of the canvas to make it easier to trim out.

When it’s wet it just pulls right off, by pulling down to make it rip on the edge.

I covered it with a light coat of Mod Podge on top and sit it aside to dry.

Next I took made the words by ripping out a small scrap of paper and just stamping the words right on top.

Another layer of Mod Podge put them in place. I put it on top as well, just for security’s sake.
I wanted a little grungier look, made by lightly rubbing the ink pad over the spots where I wanted to add some “age.” Sit it aside, let it all dry and that’s it!

Quick & easy, the total hands on time was less than half an hour. Not too shabby, eh?
Hope you’re having a happy Monday! See ya next week for another DIY project – but in the mean time I’d love for you to stop over to say hello on my blog,
The Shabby Creek Cottage.
