French Cafe Towel - Printable Transfer Project

This week's Crafty Project is another French Towel project and printable! I thought it would make more sense to post this over here on my new DIY blog, since it is a DIY Project and all. The image came from an antique French Invoice, I just used a portion of it and enlarged the lettering.

Click HERE for the Full Size Printable PDF of the front facing image(This one is suitable for printing directly on fabric, for decoupage etc.)

(Use this image when you need a reverse image for transfer projects, as with Iron on Transfers or Citra Solv transfers etc.)

Here's the Before photo. I just used some plain Flour Sack Towels from Walmart. They were super cheap! I think I paid around $5 or $6 for the pack of 5.

I used the mirrored image and used the Citra Solv Transfer method. You can find the instructions and a tutorial HERE. If you can't find Citra Solv locally (most health food stores carry it) you can order it online Here, at Amazon.

Here's the finished towel! It took me all of 5 minutes to do. I'm all about fast and easy projects!! I think it looks pretty cute though, and of course you can also use this on pillows, tote bags, runners, placemats or anything else that you can think of!

  12. For best results using Citra-solve, use the heaviest weight LASER copy paper you can find. It is amazing the difference in paper weight makes to the finished product. Continue the good work.

  15. Hi Karen! I tried this project using iron transfer paper and ended up with a huge chunk of clear paper stuck on the rest of the towel! :(
Is there any way to get a nicer finish? What am I doing wrong? Would love your input, since I love this project and want to get it right. :)
